![]() AI fluctuates wildly between displaying why-bother-to-turn-on-corners levels of stupidity and the kind of aggression that would have all but the most road rage-prone drivers slamming their foot down in a bid to escape. This unpredictable lot boasts artificial intelligence so utterly random that they make racing around F1 2011’s nineteen circuits an absolute nightmare. Unfortunately, everything comes to a halt faster than Gerhard Berger in 1989 once you add AI-controlled opponents into the mix. Once you’ve found the right combination of assists and tailored the handling of the cars to your tastes, F1 2011 can be pretty fun the game has a palpable sense of speed coupled with a steady frame rate and is really quite exhilarating at times, especially if you switch to the in-car view. This really is a crying shame: Sumo clearly intended F1 2011 to provide a genuine handheld alternative to the home console versions of the game, and that ambition certainly shines through in the sheer wealth of driving options available. But while Sumo indeed earned its stripes twice over in the development of two vastly different types of racing game, something has gone terribly, terribly wrong here. This is the team behind the Wii’s F1 2009 and the surprisingly great Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, and thus F1 2011 seemed to be in safe hands. However, it was only recently that it managed to secure the illustrious Formula 1 licence - an event that many thought would go hand in hand with Codemasters’ dedication to the simulation of anything on four wheels - and expectations were understandably high.į1 2011 marks the series’ first outing on the 3DS, with the development reins being handed over to Sumo Digital. ![]() Whether it be off-road and rally in its Colin McRae and DiRT series, more track-based events in TOCA and GRID or even the art of pitting minuscule vehicles against one another across kitchen worktops in Micro Machines, Codemasters has tried its hand at them all and rarely faltered. So, enough with discourses, see you on the track: we all hope you'll like the ride.Codemasters has a rich heritage in racing games and over the last 20 years has produced cracking examples of virtual car racing from just about every discipline. Nothing escapes his test sessions, let me tell you.īefore installing this, make sure you have deleted all the previous versions of the mod: this is completely incompatible with the previous versions, it is NOT an update to those. Also, he tested every single bit of the mod, to be completely sure it's historically accurate. To top it all off, Ozpata made the UI and the graphics, bringing to the mod more consistency and authenticity. Just make sure to have a graphics card equal or higher than a Radeon HD 5770. Also, we promote the use of the ENB series plugin to bring up the best. ![]() The tracks have been reworked by our amazing track artist, Flying Dutchman, who really put his back on those strips of asphalt and made them even more athmosperic: you can really relieve the '60s while driving. Sadly, I couldn't enjoy it because of mouse and keyboard (you can crucify me later, thanks ) Some cars still made it in the mod though, like the Lotus 24, because those were the privateers' choice almost all the time if the team was on a budget.Īlso, I did everything I could to implement RealFeel in the best way possible and can be set to your liking in the same way you would do for the HistoriX Historic GT & TC Mod. Objectively, most of the cars that were in the previous versions were just one-shots one way or another, which didn't even last enough time in the championship or did have their time of day on the starting field. ![]() Yes, this time you'll have less cars, as I've already made clear on the forum: all of this was made in the name of quality. I, personally, don't see any more work to be done on this project, apart to some bug fixes that may occur in the future if bugs pop up. This time, we reworked almost everything to make it up to the new standards Assetto Corsa and rFactor 2 presented, without forgetting our Grand Prix Legends and rFactor 1 roots. Finally, the journey has come to an end: this mod finally sees the light of day, as many times it did in the previous versions. ![]()
